AMP Capital Shopping Centres is committed to operating sustainable environments and accurately reporting this, as such we now measure our centres based on NABERS ratings.
NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System) measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment.
It does this by using measured and verified performance information, such as utility bills, and converting them into an easy to understand star rating scale from one to six stars.
So far this year, we have secured a 4.5 star NABERS Energy rating and a 3 star NABERS Water rating at Dapto Mall in NSW and a 3.5 star NABERS Energy rating and 3.5 star water rating at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast.
But we are not stopping here; we are always looking for new ways of improving the sustainable performance of our shopping centres, whether it is through capital upgrades or pushing the boundaries in operational excellence.
There are things that you, as a tenant in the shopping centre can implement which will not only improve the performance of your own tenancy, but incrementally help to improve the base building such as;
Purchasing energy efficient equipment
Shutting down all PC’s and turning off lights
Upgrading lights to LED
Ensuring supplementary air conditioning is working appropriately
Reporting any leaking toilets or taps,
Monitoring your own tenancy water usage.
