UniSuper’s Terry McCredden was named the winner of the 10th Annual Fund Executive of the Year Award by the Fund Executives Association Limited (FEAL), in partnership with AMP Capital.

The prestigious award recognises outstanding leadership, innovation and achievement by a fund executive within the Australian superannuation industry.

The Fund Executive of the Year Award was presented at an event in Melbourne on Wednesday 10 August 2011 and marked FEAL’s 12th anniversary as an organisation dedicated to supporting the professional development of leaders in superannuation.

UniSuper’s Chief Executive Officer Terry McCredden was selected for demonstrating exceptional leadership in the areas of advice, investment management and risk management, as well as fostering UniSuper’s people and culture.

AMP Capital’s Director of Client, Product & Marketing Brian Delaney said: “Terry has shown remarkable leadership in building UniSuper’s in-house investment management capability to around $5 billion, and at the same time growing a very successful advice business.

“Terry’s inclusive and transparent leadership style has seen him develop and attract strong talent, and under his guidance UniSuper is a strong participant in industry wide issues. He is a worthy winner of this prestigious award.”

Mr McCredden was selected for the award by a panel of industry leaders and peers. As part of FEAL and AMP Capital’s commitment to supporting professional development, Mr McCredden will receive a $20,000 education grant to study at an internationally recognised business school.

On winning the award, UniSuper CEO Terry McCredden said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to win the 2011 Fund Executive of the Year award. To be recognised by my peers in this exciting and developing industry is truly gratifying. In particular, I am very pleased to be joining the company of previous winners of the award.”

Bruce Watson, AUSCOAL Super’s Chief Executive Officer, was awarded the Fund Executive of the Year Award at FEAL’s annual Award Dinner on 3rd of August 2010.

Bruce Watson was selected for demonstrating innovative and outstanding leadership in responding to the needs of the fund and its members during a challenging year.

Selection was made by a panel of industry leaders and peers. Prof Jennifer George, Chair of this selection committee and Dean of Melbourne Business School said: "Bruce Watson has an outstanding track record as CEO of AUSCOAL. His nomination was strongly supported with evidence of the results that he has delivered. The committee was very impressed with Bruce's achievements and are pleased to confirm him as the Fund Executive of the Year." On winning the award Mr Watson said: “I was extremely honoured to be considered for this award. It is a privilege to be among such an esteemed group of prior recipients and it is a tribute to all the support and fantastic work of the entire AUSCOAL Super team.”
